In the Fall of 2021, EatWell was selected as a Seeding the Future Global Food System Challenge Seed Grant winner. This award gave birth to EatWell Community Kitchen, an educational video offering. With this offering, we partner with local chefs to create How-To videos for our recipes. The videos are hosted on a patient platform and use our meal kits to teach culinary skills, provide everyday tips, and walkthrough recipes to make cooking easy and enjoyable!
This past July, I shared EatWell’s vision and progress at the Institute of Food Technologist’s FIRST Event and Expo. The event focused on fusing cutting-edge innovation with global trends to advance the industry. I spoke on a panel with changemakers from across the globe, all working to increase the accessibility and sustainability of nutritious food. Panelists focused on systems-level changes that allow for increased production and utilization of nutritious resources. Their solutions were to develop infrastructure that will continue to yield impact over time by leveraging renewable resources and new techniques like solar drying and symbiotic aquaculture.
That said, the community is an often underutilized resource. EatWell Community Kitchen leverages community partners to create digital content beyond the meal kit, providing engaging and accessible dietary and culinary education. This collectively enables patients to adopt healthy habits that drive sustainable behavior change and support improved nutrition across the life course.
All told, it was a pleasure to attend the IFT expo, and I am excited to continue innovating with our team and communities!
